Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that defies conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Uncovered
According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.
The mission centers on "peculiar trials and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
