The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.
Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.
The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.
Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 penalty win.
Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 years.
